What Is the Church?
I have been thinking a lot about the church lately. I am working on a blog post about it now. But first, I want to know...if someone on the street were to ask you, what would you say the church is? Please feel free to leave a comment.
WE are the church. The followers of Christ. Somebody (St. Francis?) said: "Preach the gospel everywhere you go. If necessary, use words."
Without devoted followers of Christ reaching out to the unreached and touching others lives, we only have buildings full of Phariesess.. That sounds harsh and I'm too lazy to look up scripture to back it up, but there's MY opionion!
Interesting question. One I have struggled with off and on with for years. Not really 'struggled' - but more thought about through the years.
For me the Church isn't a 'what' but a 'who'. The Church is a body of people that have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, reconciled to God by His resurrection and ascension, regenerated by the work of the Holy Spirit - a special people set aside by the power of God.
That is what the church is to me. The place we meet - which I would like to call something other than 'church' - is not who we are. It just a big building that can accommodate a large group of people.
I am a Christ-loving wife to my Beloved and the blessed homeschooling mother of 10 children, ages 21 to newborn. I'm now also a mother-in-law. :-) Our second to youngest blessing, Jethro was born with a congenital heart defect, so I am now what is known as a "heart mama".
This is my place to muse about what a godly marriage looks like, and what it is to be a godly wife. Sometimes there will be what seem to be rabbit trails, but only because I believe they directly affect the marriage relationship. I hope you will find this to be a place of refreshment, encouragement and challenge.

Hey Tracy -

Looking forward to what others say.

The body of Christ. Without it, you have a fancy (or not) building.
The Church is the Bride of Christ. A blood-bought people, chosen before time, to be redeemed and set apart for Christ and His glory.
